What?

R.C.I.A. or Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is sometimes referred to as a "journey in faith". It is a process which provides an opportunity for adults to ask their questions about the Catholic Faith. This is done within a small group of adults, in a very casual, non-threatening environment, in which the needs of each person are considered and respected.

There are different levels of involvement in the process. After their initial inquiry, some adults may decide to enter into a deeper study of Catholic doctrine and practices. R.C.I.A. also serves as a vehicle for those who wish to become fully initiated members of the Roman Catholic Church.

When?

Every Thursday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 PM.

Why?

Are you asking some of life's most burning questions, such as:

  • Why is there so much suffering in the world?
  • What is the meaning of life?
  • How can I feel less lonely?
  • Is there a God?

Are you asking Catholic questions such as:

  • Why do Catholics confess to a priest?
  • What is Mass and why is it so important to Catholics?
  • What does "infallibility" mean?
  • Why do Catholics make the sign of the cross?

For Whom?

  • Non-Catholic adults who want to ask question about the Catholic Church.
  • Adults who are thinking about joining the Catholic Church.
  • Those already baptized in a Christian Church , who may be considering being received into full communion in the Catholic Church.
  • Baptized Catholics who have not yet been Confirmed.
  • Non-Catholic adults who want a better understanding of the faith of their spouse.
  • Non-Catholic parents whose children attend a Catholic school.
  • Unbaptized children above the ages of 7 years. This si known as the Catechumenate for Children and Youth.

Catechumenate for Children and Youth

  • This is an adaptation of the adult process, designed for unbaptized children of catechetical age (7 years or older).
  • Involves the participants in the regular parish religious education program with their own peer group.
  • Provides the additional formation required to prepare participants to celebrate the initiation sacraments of baptism, eucharist and confirmation.
